My friends know I have a definite soft spot for the much (unfairly) maligned Dick Ewell. Couldn't let the week go by without giving Old Bald-head his due props for his victory at 2nd Winchester when he was hailed as the second coming of Stonewall. Three cheers for the old dragoon!
Regards,

When it comes to Ewell, I think for most of us we tend to think of the "if practible" issue. And tend to forget what he did with his boys during the early stages of the campaign.. (My GGgrandfather Julius Hildenbrand got caught up in that whole business with the 5th US Battery L. so its somethign I have been looking at a bit more lately).
Yea he was better then most historians give him credit for and I for one think, if the whole issue if practible had not come up, he would have been remembered a bit differently..
