At least this should help out the local economy.

Are the animals being gathered up two by two in Gettysburg?

Good news. Really good news.

This is way better than the $500,000 alternative plan...

Some times they get it right... Now if they could line up an arty battery, say a Napolean or a 10 pound Parrot crew, one live round should do it! It would be fitting wouldnt it? JIM

Jim, are you trying to blow things up with cannon again?

It's rare that I disagree with this website, but I say leave the station there. I've used it before to "freshen" up and they are already removing another restroom at Devil's Den. It's not like this building looks that out of place. It could pass for an 1860's building.

That being said, I would at least leave up each tree that's right next to it. Take down the ones on the left in the photo below, but not the small grouping on the right.

As the National Park Service explained this week in an exclusive interview with the Gettysburg Daily, “even though the restroom is not from the time of the Civil War, we believe the stones used in its construction could be really old.”

Huh. I just assumed that these stones were created in a lab somewhere about 50 years ago and didn't exist before Adam and Eve got into trouble. (Tell me they are being facetious in that quote.)

Yes he does.

I just wonder if the NPS is amused if, in fact, they weren't actually quoted there. When I first read it, I just assumed that that was an actual quote (ridiculous as the quote does sound.)
Maybe the joke was on me.

Unintended or unthought of consequences?

http://www.gettysburgdaily.com/?p=7496

Perhaps someone has already thought of this, but with all the tree cutting, there will be another kind of cutting that will now be necessary because of the lack of trees: grass.

By opening up all these areas, they are going to have to cut even more grass then before. They don't have to make it look anywhere close to a golf course, but at the very least they will have to keep the grass short around any walking paths.

The erosion of our morals continues....

http://www.gettysburgdaily.com/?p=7996

One simple question for any of the older folks:
Are kids more out of control today than they were say 35+ years ago?

Maybe there's less discipline today partly because of all the pinheads in the spotlight and so-called role models including our sports "heroes" and the idiots in Washington.

A screen of trees will be left at the border of the homes there.

Either they learned some lessons from previous tree cutting adventures (maintenance building, Colt Park, etc.) or someone helped wise them up.

True. At least they seem capable of learning from their mistakes.......which is good.

EDIT: Lets see how many trees they leave as a "screen" before we celebrate........

Regards,

Rick
